The Rules of Golf Knowledge of the Rules of Golf can reduce your score! How often have you found yourself in certain situations out on the golf course where you and your fellow-competitors or opponents have been unsure how to proceed correctly without breaking the rules? Everyone should have and carry a copy of The Rules of Golf 2008-11 (available in the clubhouse free of charge), and The Quick Guide to the Rules of Golf is also an extremely useful publication. Remember also to be aware of the Local Rules (printed on the scorecard) and any Temporary Local Rules displayed outside the Professional's Shop. The following pages will hopefully illustrate the more common situations in which we may all find ourselves during a round of golf at Douglas Park. We have tried to explain these in a manner that is both easy to understand and carry out with photographs to illustrate, but the final arbiter should ALWAYS be the Rules of Golf. Should you have any queries about these situations or any others, please feel free to use the Discussion Forum on the web site as appropriate. Hopefully this will help you to make the correct decision on the course and avoid unnecessary penalties! Alistair Forrest | Stuart Orr |
