A nine hole course for Gentlemen at Douglas Park has now been approved by the SGU. It corresponds to the one used by Ladies for the past four years and is comprised of holes 1 to 8 and hole 11. Competitions already arranged for Ladies on Monday 3rd and Sunday 16th September will now be open to Gents.
Entry is made at the Proshop and scores entered on the touchscreen.
Stableford scoring is used and a score index is shown on the card.
Playing the 9th and 10th is not permitted by the rules of golf and there is no automatic priority at the 11th. In practice this has not been a problem in ladies’ competitions.
The nine hole medals are qualifying competitions for handicap purposes. Retention of handicap requires a return of 54 holes in the season and each nine hole competition counts as 9 of these.
It is the committee’s intention to extend the number of these competitions in 2013.
