Rainfall Statistics Comparison – 1985 & 2012
17th October 2012Captain’s Newsletter 2012
23rd October 2012In view of the prevailing conditions this week (15th to 19th October) the Course Manager has posted the notice below in the Locker Rooms and at the first tee.
Please consider the conditions, and your own golfing equipment, before setting off under these circumstances.
COURSE CONDITIONS
From 15th October to 19th October 69 mm of rain fell over Douglas Park
The course was closed from Wednesday lunch time until Friday morning due to flooding.
However, as our drainage is very good, 90% of the floodwater has now receded though this has left the course underfoot conditions very soft and slippery.
As the Winter Rules are not in force until 1st November, here is advice for all golfers.
- Play with mats on the fairways !
- Ensure that you have good spikes on your shoes – and have them replaced if they’re not up to the job.
- Take Extra Care on all paths & slopes.
- Carry your golf bag if possible as Trolleys can slip and pull you down.
Weather forecast for w/c 22/10/12 is promising, with sun, light wind and virtually NO rain !
