FINAL UPDATE TO 12th GREEN MODIFICATIONS – 11/2/13

After close examination of the subsoil conditions, it has been decided to delay final green modification and any variation to Bunker(s) until the end of the 2013 Summer Season.

UPDATE

Due to the recent Arctic conditions, the lifting of the turf on 12th Green has been delayed until into the New Year.  (19.12.12) and continues to be delayed as at 24.1.13

We can advise that some necessary modifications and adjustments are being made to the 12th green over the next few weeks.

This will result in the green being effectively flattened somewhat in the centre and sub-soil material relocated on the sub-surface to create a gentle slope from the centre of the green upwards towards the edge of the green.

This was what was in the original design and although the green knitted very well during the 8 months it has been in play the constant wet weather of this summer and autumn has prevented it from settling in it’s designed position.

Consequently, the green will not be in play thereafter until the new playing season commences.

The Winter Green, which was created to the short right of the 12th, will then come into play.

No bunkers at the 12th are being removed at this time.

Members should be re-assured that the development of all aspects of the 12th hole have been monitored since the green was rebuilt and the turf laid in February 2012.   It has been seriously considered and discussed all last summer and continues to be discussed at this time.  The bulk of feedback we have received in it’s first year in play is that the 12th  is now a welcome golfing challenge and, consequently, no longer one of the easiest holes on our course.
