In recent years there have been a number of representations made to the Committee regarding the possibility of changing the dates for Club Championship qualifying and finals week.

 The main reasons behind these requests are that qualifying normally takes place in May when the course is still recovering from winter and that the finals take place in June which is very early in the season and limits the time available for players to reach their peak. A later time for both would provide the optimum conditions for both course and players.

 Consequently the Committee resolved to hold a consultation exercise after the conclusion of this year’s Championship.  This was announced at the AGM.

The proposal that the Committee wishes members to consider is that in 2014 the Club Championship Finals will be held during the week commencing Sunday 3 August with Gents qualifying taking place on the preceding two Saturdays (i.e. 26 July and 2 August).

 We seek responses from the whole membership and are particularly keen to hear from members who have participated in the Championship finals week in recent years.
