This year’s Committee Outing was to Erskine Golf Club. Overall, the weather was fairly kind to us, with just a few showers.
When it dried up, the scenery was breathtaking and the golf club looked after us very well indeed.
27 of us took part, in a Team and Individual Stableford format. I decided that the ‘seriousness’ needed to be removed from this informal get-together, and I made it a ‘Norwegian Stableford’. Translated, this means that on every hole, you must THROW the ball for one shot, where you do so is up to you. It could be over or out of a bunker, or out of a hazard, less likely to be off the tee, or on the fairway. Everyone realised very soon, how much easier it is to putt a ball, rather than throw it, on the green!!
Yvonne Currie won the individual Stableford, and the winning team was Captained by Mary MacLean, along with Barbara Aitchison and Lesley Irvine.
Many congratulations to the winners, and thanks to everyone who embraced the spirit of the day!
Lastly very well done to Lesley, who battled round despite her limitations following her accident. As the old saying goes: “beware the injured golfer”.
