Douglas Park Golf Club Gents’ Invitational 2014
17th August 2014Disappearing Benches
29th August 2014There have been some enquiries recently from a number of members about the status of the new tee at the 13th hole. Extension of this tee has been the subject of discussion by a number of previous committees and various plans had been drawn up but not enacted for one reason or another.
Last December an excavator was on the course to help with extending the 16th tee that we now use. Our Course Manager and Course Convenor (of that time) decided to take the opportunity to lower and extend the old upper tee at the 13th. This reshaping has met with the approval of many. However, work still needs to be done to make the tee suitable for play. This will involve levelling, laying rootzone and topsoil and finally seeding.
Time constraints have not allowed the final shaping and cultivation of the tee this season but this work will be progressed as time allows. However, there are other works on the course that take priority. The wet and warm weather has led to the vigorous growth of unsightly weeds on the tee and the course team will keep this under control.
