Change to Competition Forward Bookings
19th May 2015Summer Course News
25th June 2015The final match of the 2015 campaign was played away to Hayston and resulted in a dispiriting 8 – 0 defeat.
The team had been hit with 3 late call offs one of which was unavoidable but the other two calling off on the day of the match left the management scrabbling to fill the two place to ensure a team of 8 played on the night.
I have to thank Colin MacDonald & Finlay Watson for agreeing to play at the last minute. Both players were up against far superior opponents and despite putting up brave performances , both lost by 4 & 3.
There were heavy losses to Michael Giovannetti & Andrew McNamara with Ally Thomson also losing by 4 & 2.
There were three close ties with Angus Carrick losing 2 & 1 despite some prodigious ball striking & Matthew Anderson losing 3 & 1
Stephen Wightman was our best hope of avoiding a white-wash when he stood 3 up with 4 to play. However his opponent hit him with three closing birdies to defeat Stephen on the last green.
This was a disappointing end to what had been an excellent campaign which left the team in third place behind Glasgow & Hayston.
The team members would like to thank Captain Alistair Beattie for his support over the six matches and to also thank Lisa and her team for the excellence of the buffets supplied for the 3 home games.
I would also add my personal thanks to Stephen Wightman for all his assistance in team selection and in ensuring a full team played each match.
