8th July 2016The Past Captain’s team playing in the Andra Kirkaldy Trophy travelled to Hayston GC to play the “away” tie following their disappointing 2 hole defeat at home.
John Telfer & Alistair Beattie led out the team and recorded a fine win 3 up.
Colin McEwen & Ian Letford fought back from 3 down with 3 to play winning the final two holes to lose one down.
David Wightman & Hugh MacIntyre were in great form with David ‘s length off the tee giving him a distinct advantage particularly on the long par fours into the wind.
They eventually won by the margin 5 up.
This left one match on the course involving Jim Fergusson & Gordon McGregor.They approached the final hole 4 down and needed to , at least , half this hole to ensure a Douglas Park win as the team were 5 up over the two legs of the tie.In the event Gordon secured a par 3 which won the hole and a 2 hole victory for the team.
In the quarter finals the Douglas Park team are at home to Hilton Park.
