Ladies Committee Outing 2018
17th August 2018Douglas Park Swing Studio Officially Opened
23rd August 2018128 Douglas Park members and their guests participated in Saturday’s Gents Invitational, 64 pairs playing a two-ball better ball for the John Watson Trophy.
The weather stayed mainly dry, with only a fairly brief rain shower in the afternoon, and this was reflected in the excellent scoring. Two pairs broke 60 with DP member Martin Bell and his guest, Garry Hill, taking the trophy with a net score of 59 beating from runners-up Steven MacIntyre and guest, Scott Mills, with a better inward half.
Thanks to the large number who took part in the event and to the many who stayed for the prize-giving, thereby adding to the atmosphere on the day. Thanks, also, to Drew Mackechnie and his course team for preparing the course so well and laying out the markers for the special prizes; to Lisa Cuthbert and the Catering team for preparing an excellent buffet throughout the day for the returning pairs and to Robert Irvine for his input and advice in preparing the prizes for the top six pairs and the special prizes.
Events such as these take an enormous amount of preparation and planning and I’m indebted to Past Captain John Morse and to members Graeme Gardner and Robert Brechany for their great support on the day. Robert’s sterling work on the raffle resulted in a surplus of £210 for the nominated charity, Prostate Scotland.
Past Captain Graham White contributed greatly to the overall organisation and Stuart Orr did absolutely sterling work in organising the draw and computing the final scores.
