“The annual Ladies V Gents match involving a high quality Ladies team against the Gents Donald Cameron team players was played on the 16th August and resulted in a very close match with the result going down to the final pairings.

In the opening match Fiona Rattray & Alex Mennie proved too strong in their encounter with Stephen Wightman & Adam McLeod winning 3 & 2.

Sandra Goldie & Claire McKelvie were next up against Matthew Anderson & Michael Giovannetti and enjoyed a wonderfully close match with the Ladies winning on the final green.

Gill Hendry & Lynda Smith were up against the senior Donald Cameron team member , Dave McClement partnered by junior member Ross McMillan. The Gents proved too strong winning 3 & 2.

In the fourth match Helen Faulds & Olive McKay were well beaten by Andrew McNamara & Finlay Watson with Finlay having a particularly good day on the greens.

That result left the teams tied at two matches each with the result now hinging on the ” officials ” match involving Lady Captain Elaine McEwen and Past Captain Maggie Rutherford against Club Captain Alistair Beattie and Team Manager Hugh MacIntyre. In a close fought encounter , played in excellent spirit , the Gentlemen edged the Ladies 3 & 2 to produce an overall win for the Gents team.

The closeness of the match and the quality of the participating teams ensured that this match will most certainly be in the golfing calendar for 2016
