Donald Cameron Team 2018 Campaign Continues
4th June 2018Club Championships Update
11th June 2018JJ McCarry Team
At the halfway point of the season, our JJ McCarry Juniors are sitting top of League Division 2 with a perfect 100% record. We started the season at home to Kirkintilloch and won 3.5-0.5 with wins from Scott Souter, Farris Hassan and David McColl and a half for Greg MacLeod.
We then came up against a strong Bearsden side which contained 2 county players, and boasted handicaps all lower than ours, and ran out 4-0 victors. Incredible wins from David McColl and Robbie Trainer, over the 2 county players, and emphatic wins also from Greg MacLeod and Sophie Murphy (on her competitive debut) completed the whitewash.
The return match at Bearsden looked a tough one, away from home and with a few regulars missing, however the team managed another victory. Robbie Trainer led the team out against one of Bearsden’s county players and held onto a narrow 1up lead for much of the round. After driving into the trees at 17 and having to lay up, he proceeded to hole a 30ft putt for a par to take a 1up lead down the last and secure a win. Greg MacLeod and David McColl had impressive victories to bring home the victory. Ross Mirmelli (making his competitive debut) stepped in at the last minute and unfortunately came up against an opponent having a great night.
Tonight (Friday 8th) marks our final home fixture against Dougalston with Robbie Trainer, Ross Mirmelli and debuts for Chris Lathan and Archie Scott.
Marley Team
Our Marley team have played just one match so far, away at Hilton Park. Unfortunately, due to the bank holiday weekend, we only had a 3 person team and, with the Marley format being a 4 person combined stableford competition, this put us slightly behind. We still have 5 fixtures to make this up, starting this Sunday (10th) away at Glasgow, with Ross Mirmelli, Archie Scott, Chris Lathan and Cameron Burns representing the club.
My thanks go to all team members and their parents for their commitment, along with both team managers for their ongoing support; Calum Gordon (JJ McCarry) and Alan Dunipace (Marley)
