Come Up and See Us Sometime

26th February 2016The Ladies’ Annual Dinner & Social Evening took place on Friday 19th February. The theme was “A Celtic Connection” and the welcome drink of bramble fizz, the table decorations and the entertainment all reflected the Celtic theme. After cocktail and canapés the evening began with two songs from the DP Ladies’ choir. Their excellent singing got the evening off to a swinging start and this was followed by a superb 3 course meal, organised, cooked and served by Lisa and behind the scenes staff. After dinner the choir delighted us with another two lovely songs and they not only sang but danced as well!! The choir only formed just before Christmas and under the baton of Eileen Hunter and accompanist by Margaret Morris has proved to be a great success. Thanks to everyone for all their hard work. The final entertainment of the evening was provided by the sibling duo of Joy and Andrew Dunlop. They, originally from Oban, are superb musicians. Joy is a singer and step dancer and Andrew a talented pianist and harpist. They enthralled the audience with a variety of folk, Gaelic and Scottish songs plus harp solos from Andrew. Joy also did a demonstration of step dancing and then persuaded some of the audience to join her.
My grateful thanks go to Vice Captain Christina Graham, for her help and vote of thanks; to Elaine McEwen and Jeannie Sutherland for the beautiful flower arrangements and their help with the table decorations; to the kilted Colin McEwen & Hugh McLean for greeting us on arrival; to Barbara Aitchison for photography during the evening and to the Ladies’ committee for all their help and support before and during the evening. Please view below a small selection of the photos – we hope to upload a link soon to a complete album of the pictures taken.
