The Scottish Seniors Team at the European Team Championships in Switzerland

The European Ladies’ Team Championship took place at Lugano in Switzerland from the 4th to 8th September.  Douglas Park’s Helen Faulds was the Captain of the team that represented Scotland at this Team Championship

Scotland, however , finished in 10th place after 2 qualifying rounds of strokeplay (best 5 scores out of 6 to count) and therefore did not reach the Flight A Matchplay stages  – (Top 8 Teams)

They played in the Flight B group and beat Iceland and Finland to reach the Final yesterday. They were then beaten by the smallest of margins by Belgium with the 4th tie going down the 19th and the result being in the favour of the Belgians.
The Italians beat France 3.5 – 1.5 to be the 2012 European Team Champions. Ireland was third
